Powerful taglines that bring the cha-ching

Here at Grow My Etsy Shop, I offer the drips of knowledge you need to start growing…

That right there ☝is me practicing what I’m preaching on my podcast today. I created a power tagline for my podcast. For me, creating a name that is really specific to what I teach has been really powerful for me. It has helped me get a lot of organic growth just from people looking for ways to grow their Etsy shops.

Why Niche Matters:

It can be tempting to create a name on Etsy that is really broad in the hopes that you can continue to expand your product line. What the research shows, however, and what I would strongly suggest, is that the more niche you are, the better you will be able to serve your customers. Tag lines and shop names can contribute to the selling process when you are niche rather than broad.

In this vein, you want your customer to read your tagline and immediately know what it is you sell. On a deeper level, your tagline can show your customer what value you are going to give them. Taglines that speak directly to the benefit are going to be much more powerful, give them a positive association with your brand, and make them more likely to remember you.

Powerful Examples of Taglines:

You don’t have to look too far into common, everyday products to find great, value-giving taglines. One well know insurance brand took something super boring (insurance) and made it memorable- “like a good neighbor, State Farm is there”. Another, lesser-known story about the power of taglines is the tagline of a building in Rome that gets 100 times more visitors than another, much cooler building in Europe-the Parthenon. Somewhere along the way, someone came up with the tagline ‘the leaning tower of Pisa’. That tagline has piqued the curiosity of millions of people around the world and contributed to the HUGE amount of visitors the tower gets every year compared to the Parthenon. The irony is that the Parthenon is this incredible piece of Greek history that is WAY older and WAY cooler than the Tower of Pisa. But because it hasn’t been associated with something memorable in the way Pisa has, it doesn’t see nearly the traffic.

You Turn:

So, my question to you is, what is your Pisa tagline? What is it about your brand that makes you unique or what stands out from other shops? What value or benefit do you offer that you can highlight in a few words. Play around with it and see what you can come up with. It’s well worth your time.

Etsy doesn’t have a ton of branding outside of your banner and logo, adding a powerful tagline can take your store to the next level, show potential customers immediate value, and make your shop memorable.
